The primary duties of an Au Pair are to help look after the host family's children. That is why babysitting experience is essential and you will need to provide us with references. You may need to accompany them to and from school and help cook their meals as well.
As you will be living as a member of the family, you will be expected to help out around the home. The most typical tasks are dusting and hoovering, washing dishes, ironing and possibly doing some of the shopping if you have the confidence. The family may want you to drive locally if you know how.
In your time off you will have the time to attend a college to have some language lessons. This will also be an opportunity to meet new friends.
Your free time is your own. You will receive some pocket money to enable you to travel locally and visit the area in which you are staying.
You will have the chance to specify a preference for the location of your host family when you apply. The more flexible you can be the easier it will be to place you and the more choice you will have. We work with an extensive network of agents who will be available to help you when you arrive.
Choose from:
Paris and northern France
Cote Atlantique - France's west coast
Cote d'Azur - France's south coast
Vallée du Rhone - France's interior
French speaking Belgium
French speaking Switzerland
You can call, fax, e-mail or even write to us for registration papers.
We will send you an application form, a registration agreement and instructions about how to proceed. This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself, your experiences and preferences.
In addition to completing the papers we send you, we will ask you to provide us with two references with French translations, photos, a recent medical certificate and a letter about yourself addressed to a prospective host family (in your best French!).
As soon as we have received your dossier we can start our search for the right family for you.
There is no fee for registration but we do ask you to sign a contract with us as a sign of your commitment.
The placement fee is regulated by law and costs just £40.00
We operate an optional withdrawal scheme for £10.00 which gives you maximum flexibility and which is deducted from the placement fee if you accept a placement offer.
You will not have to pay any further fees to our correspondent agents when you arrive at your destination.
The only other costs you will have to pay will be your fares, travel and health insurance.
